I don't typically like to do anything stupid. So to speak. I am beginning to feel like that unnecessary trouble seems to come my way though. [Really. He just wants a peaceful life. :( Why it gotta be this way.] I mean, the group here had intentions of being here, so I think there's at least that. I wouldn't say we're unwilling. Perhaps caught off guard though.

[Newt, thankfully, generally comes prepared. A habit of some sort which is obviously working in his favor.

Though...] Oh. How...how does one go about doing that? [Newt...actually hasn't used the watch in any real capacity. Surprise.]

Yeah your brother mentioned that, that you find these kinds of dangerous situations by accident. [He's just going to lay on the floor of his workshop now with a hand over his face.] Just- be careful. Don't, don't find any more trouble. We'll be there in three days with the diplomats.

[And then he cuts off. There's a long moment of silence.] You don't even know how to- Newt.

I believe some would say the wrong place at the wrong time? Well, right time, maybe. [He did help capture a notorious dark wizard that way. Even if they escaped anyways...] Well, that's quite silly. We're here to find information, not trouble. [So, really. They're gonna find trouble. Probably.]

What? [What?!] I haven't really had to call anyone before. [Wait till Hiccup learns that the magic community from where Newt and Theseus come from don't use technology in any capacity, practically.]

['We're here to find information, not trouble.' Hahaha. That's a riot.] Be careful anyway. It's- it's dangerous there. Especially outside of, of the official channels. [He's pretty sure they won't execute him as part of the diplomat group, for example, and risk raising tensions between cities even more, but he's not so sure they won't execute an Aefenglom spy.] You know what they did to both of us in that dream.

[Dragging that hand down his face. Oh Newt. To be fair, though, terror-mail and sending letters with owls are basically the same thing. He explains how to call someone, and gives him Theseus's information, just in case, before capping it off with,] He's kind of freaked out.

I know. [Their bond is so far apart, but Newt seems surprisingly calm. Though, the man has seen his fair share of troubles before, so perhaps he had just learned to really take all these things in stride.] I'll be careful. I wouldn't want this to be the third time I've nearly been killed during my travels. [That- Oh right, he never did really tell Hiccup the time he was nearly executed by the American government under the orders of a dark wizard disguised as the head of security and then nearly murdered by that same man half a year later.

These are probably details that Hiccup might want to be aware of before accepting bonds with trouble attracting wizards.

Maybe Newt should travel less to cities. He seems to nearly get killed. That, or wanted by the government.

Newt is doing his best. He's just...struggling. He has never used a muggle technology before other than maybe a gas stove and a few other things. This is very difficult. Perhaps Hiccup can feel it. The guilt from the other. Hiccup might not feel the way that Newt's heart constricts, but he can probably feel the genuine regret and guilt.] I didn't mean to.

[To be entirely fair, Hiccup has nearly died his fair share of times too. Mostly to dragons (probably not surprising considering he makes no secret of his half a leg). If they ever reach the 'accidental memory sharing' part of having a bond, they're both in for some awful surprises.] Third time- [He cuts himself off abruptly and blows out a breath.] You're lucky the reception is terrible because- there's no time to, to get into that.

[Live in the wild with the animals. It's easier. Hiccup is leaning toward becoming a hermit woodswitch entirely.

He does feel the little pang in his own chest, and his tone softens a little.] I know. He's just worried about you. I've told him that you're okay, though.

[Newt can't help but laugh. This entire situation is just kind of ridiculous thinking about it. This really would be some situation he'd get himself into.] I'll tell you once we're back in Aefenglom. Consider it an IOU. [A promise that they'll surely both return in one piece.

One could practically hear the fretting from the Brit.] I know. I- Of course he's worried. He's my brother. I just- He doesn't have to. Worry about me. I don't want him to feel like he has to. [Newt seems to forget that it's just natural for Theseus to worry about him. Older sibling problems.]

Yeah, sure, sounds like a fantastic time. Let's just have tea and trade stories about the times we've almost died. [Even with the shoddy reception, the dry sarcasm is definitely there.]

Doesn't have to? He's your brother. He's going to worry whether you want him to or not. He'll- he'll worry less if he hears from you. But I'll tell him too. That you're okay.

Well, not the most pleasant of topics. [Of course, he didn't think it so bad back at MACUSA, but he also wasn't the one in the chair floating over a death potion either. He thinks Tina might argue that it was very awful.] But, perhaps important to know. Details of our experience. I mean, I have more pleasant ones I can talk about too.

[Newt is quiet for a moment.]I'm sorry. I- You shouldn't have to be in the middle of this. [He feels bad that Hiccup was kind of caught in between their spat. Newt and Theseus didn't quite see eye to eye and the last month had really taken a toll on their relationship. They were still really kind of getting themselves reacquainted with each other again.]

You're a- you're a master of understatement. ['Not the most pleasant of topics'.] Yeah, we can, can talk about all of that later. It might be good, with the Bond and everything. [Fair's fair, though, Newt gets to hear all about how he plummeted into the inferno of a dying Red Death from a thousand feet up and lost half his leg.]

No, don't worry about it, it's- I was the one who called him. I know you guys haven't- had the easiest time, but family's important. And also all you said was 'oh bugger me', and I had to find out if someone knew where you were.

Yes. Well, I had expected for us to get situated with the Bond a little more before you left, but it looks like I ended up going on ahead. [Which is really unfortunate because neither of them have any idea what they're in for with the next few weeks.]

I was trying to figure out what was going on exactly. It's a little discombobulating to teleport without complete intention. Though, I must say that this was far more comfortable than portkey travel.

It's- It'll be fine. We'll figure it out. I'll be there in a few days, and at least this- this feeling will probably stop. [The distance is a constant ache already, or at least he's hoping it's just the distance. There really is so much they don't know about the bond still. Should have done more research.

He lets out a humorless laugh.] Yeah, I- I bet it was a surprise. It was a surprise for me too. [Now it's an ache but when it happened, it was a yank.]

Jeez. Just- I know I said it already, but be careful over there.

We won't be able to interact, Hiccup. [He imagines that it would be difficult for them to meet and Newt knew that the group now in Dorchact weren't supposed to be there.] They'll surely want to keep an eye on you. To make sure everyone is behaving. [With how things were in the dream; he imagines that those going as dignitaries were going to have to do their best to not set a toe out of line.]

I- Sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen. [He was sure it felt as bad for Hiccup as it did for himself.]

I'll be fine. This- I'm no dignitary, Hiccup. This though. This is something I do for a living. This is something I know I can do.

[He makes a frustrated noise over the watch at that, scrubbing a hand over his face. Yeah. Of course. They'll have to pretend they don't know each other, won't they? For the sake of diplomacy.] I- I know, you're right, but- Not hearing from you for, for possible weeks is gonna drive me crazy- [And he's not 100% if it's just that he worries about his friend, or if the bond causes him to crave being near him.] It's, at least the Bond won't pull so much when we're in the same city again.

[He blows out a breath.] No, it's... not your fault. I didn't know either. I was going to leave for, for at least a couple of weeks thinking you'd still be in Aefenglom so it would have happened either way. [This is exhausting already. He hopes the talks go well, at least, make it all worth it. (Still assuming there will be talks.)

A little quieter, full of faith,] Yeah. You can do this. Good luck.

Like an itch that can't be scratched. [Newt idly agrees. It's already kind of bothering him now, but he imagines it's the distance.

He wonders if being closer without being able to interact would be just as frustrating though.] It'll be a few days. Please do your best to endure for the time being. [His tone is apologetic.]

We'll be okay, Hiccup. [He means them two, but perhaps the group now stuck in Dorchacht.] I'll keep in touch somehow. Do travel safely.

Yeah. Just like that. [He echoes, though to him, it feels more like phantom limb syndrome; something that should be there is just... not. Like he can still feel what's missing as an ache.]

You- you too. Stay safe. Call me if you- if you get in too deep. [Toothless would be able to get him out quickly, Hiccup thinks.] We'll be okay.

Yes. We'll be fine. Take care, Hiccup.
