Character Information
Name: Newt Scamander
Canon: Harry Potter
Canon Point: End of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Age: 29
History: Wikia Link

Personality:
Newt is a ridiculously dedicated individual. He's rather passionate about what he's into and it's apparent how much Newt loves creatures with how he had chosen a career in it. It's even noted that Newt's mother and brother are disappointed in his career choice despite his mother being a breeder of hippogriffs. Throughout the film(s), Newt is shown as being nothing but empathetic towards all creatures big or small. He speaks about how he's working in the field to release a book detailing more about creatures in a means to spread knowledge as a means to prevent the merciless killing of beasts. By the time the first film starts, Newt has spent a year out in the field to gather information needed for his book. He has traveled across the world, so that he can educate others. He doesn't speak at all about fame or recognition, but merely that he hopes he can teach others the importance of these creatures.

He is as compassionate as he is passionate. Newt doesn't see any creatures as dangerous or strange. He goes as far as to see humans as the most ruthless and vicious of beings. That doesn't mean that Newt hates people, but that he just prefers creatures to them. His compassion is not limited to creatures though as he's seen trying to comfort Credence despite Credence being very dangerous and volatile. Newt holds no prejudice whatsoever; a rarity given the era. Regardless if they are pure blood, or a muggle, or even a creature; Newt seems to value every life equally. It's apparent in how he befriends Jacob, a muggle, or how he loves all the creatures he takes care of and how they seem to love him back. It's worth to note that there are thousands of creatures within his briefcase and some are considered highly dangerous, but seem docile in his care. Newt does not discriminate. He's simple in that he merely follows what he believes is right.

It's noted by Albus Dumbldedore that Newt isn't someone who is interested in fame or power. That Newt doesn't do things for his own personal gain, but merely questions whether it is right or not. This seems to hold true with how Newt goes about his life. His career choices for one. His brother is a high ranking Auror, whereas Newt holds a rather low position in the Ministry of Magic. How he handles creatures is another good example. It's worth noting that Newt has stolen creatures from traffickers and smugglers. His real reason to going to America was to bring a Thunderbird back home from where he found it in Egypt. He has a breeding pair of Graphorns and claims they're the last of their kind. Some of his creatures are very much illegal. Newt does not seem to have much care for laws and legality and only cares to do what he perceives as the right thing to do.

His drive to do what is right makes Newt a bit of a reckless individual in the eyes of many. Newt is known for someone who doesn't follow orders very well. His stubborn nature is obvious in that he's rather unmoving and uncompromising in his opinions. He seems to have a knack to getting into trouble and has a bit of a disregard for his own well-being and safety more often than not. He's been around countless creatures that could easily kill him and he puts himself into danger to help creatures and people alike. He approaches Credence despite Credence being dangerous because of his Obscurial status. Newt has an Obscurus in his case that he had separated from a young girl when he was in Sudan, which is why he had a good knowledge of Obscurials in the first place. It's worth noting that Newt's actions may seem reckless given his tendency to approach dangerous beasts, but that the other seems well aware as how to approach them and handle them. To him, his actions probably seem more thought out than what others thing. That isn't to say that he won't jump into danger when needed, since that is most definitely a thing he will and has done.

Newt's stubborn and uncompromising ways in his interests makes him rather an eccentric man. His passion for creatures and his view of them and Muggles is not a completely common view. It makes Newt a bit of a black sheep. It's also paired with the fact that Newt doesn't do very well in a social setting. He's awkward and stumbles over his words. He mentions to Jacob that people find him annoying and that he was more comfortable with creatures than people. He can barely keep eye contact with others and either struggles to keep conversation or speaks too much (usually over topics that he's fond of). His way of words is completely lacking as he uses phrases and words that would only be used by him (it happens in the second movie) and he hasn't the slightest clue on how to tie up a conversation other than to awkwardly end it and leave.

The man has a big heart though and does take his relations with others seriously. He seems to hold people dearly to him as seen as him and Jacob's relationship. How he was rather upset to make goodbyes with the other and knowing that the other wouldn't remember him. Still, he left the other with a means to fund his dream of opening a bakery and helping the other out from continuing a job he hated. Another example is Leta, whom he obviously had romantic feelings for. Despite probably not being in contact with her for awhile, he had a photo of her in his case and it was obvious he wasn't over her in ways with his refusal to really talk about her and their relations.

Abilities & Skills:
Magical Mastery: While, not an incredible practitioner, Newt is also far from the average rift raft. His skills are fairly extensive, all things considered. Despite his education being cut short due to expulsion (it's not said concretely if he was permanently expelled or if it was enforced), Newt shows exemplary skills in his use of charms and spells. His case is an exemplary example of his use of charms, his ability to track creatures and people through tracking spells, and his ability to use offensive and defensive magic against foes (some whom are of higher standing than himself).

There's no specifics as to the limit of magic of the wizarding world, but it should be assumed that he can do spells, charms, hexes, transfiguration. Basically anything that was taught in the Hogwarts curriculum.

While, he will lose these skills, it should prove to help him move forward with learning magic within the setting.

Physicality: It's noted that wizards are naturally just more resilient than the average human. Wizards naturally have a higher life expectancy and seem to be able to take more damage from injuries than what muggles could. This doesn't seem to be a purely magical trait and just a physical trait that wizardkind have being born as one.

Magizoology: Newt is basically the authority of everything magizoology in the wizarding world. A lot of advancement had been made through his studies and findings and he is the first person to write a comprehensive book to the public on his findings. His knowledge of creatures and beasts is unrivaled at the time, due to him basically being one of the few pioneers of his time.

Newt seems to have a certain affinity towards creatures (it's noted that he prefers the company of animals to people). He seemingly has an innate ability to bond and communicate with animals. He has an understanding of the creatures in the way that he interacts with them that most others do not. He has been seen to be able to interact and tame dangerous beasts that typically wouldn't be tamable. It should be noted that Newt's body language is typically very awkward when interacting with people. He holds himself small and away from people and he barely makes eye contact with others. It can be assumed that this helps him with interacting with creatures and that he has a good idea on how to approach them.

Apparition: Apparition is basically the ability to teleport for wizards. They are able to teleport from one place to another, but has risks involved in which the person can leave parts of themselves or items on them at their original destination.

Newt is shown to be very adept with apparating, as he can apparate around New York without too much trouble.

Herbology/Healing/Medicine: On top of caring for creatures, Newt has a lot of flora in his care. He has a proficient knowledge in plants and what they're capable of doing and has shown being able to create poultices to help with curing ailments. It's also worth noting that Newt traveled alone for a year around the world to study and understand creatures. This includes adverse effects of what creatures can cause and possibly learning remedies and how to handle said effects.

It can be assumed that Newt has a good knowledge of medicine (he had countless bottles to go along with the flora he cared for) and a decent hand with healing in any capacity due to being in fairly good health.

Tracking: Newt is fairly skilled and adept at tracking and hunting. He spent a year out in the field traveling around the world to study creatures of all sort and living out of his birefcase. His tracking skills were seen in the second movie as he used his niffler and a multitude of spells to locate Tina in Paris and it is likely that he required these skills to locate the beasts that he intended to study and/or capture.

Newt also had a multitude of beasts in his care, including the last breeding pair of Graphorns amongst other creatures that probably required searching for their whereabouts.

*A list of abilities and skills are on his wikia here if necessary.

Inventory/Companions:
+Wand
+Briefcase; Newt's case includes these contents, as the case has both mundane and magical properties. The magical properties of his case, as games rule applies, will no longer be available. The environments and creatures of the case will be gone and will only include the Muggle side of his case. Overall, it will turn into a normal traveling briefcase with personal items for traveling. Multiple images of the case's magical content can be found here just for reference.
+Pickett; Bowtruckles don't exhibit anything particular magical in terms of abilities. Their specialty is just picking locks.
+Zouwu; The Zouwu is a elephant sized feline. If the size of the creature is an issue, let me know as I'm fine with it being shrunk. Due to not being sure about the extent of its warping abilities and the nature of them being magical, I am happy for those to not be available. As far as I have gathered, the zouwu is just a large cat that can run fast and strong by nature. Needless to say, the extent of its speed and strength can be fussed with, since I highly doubt there will ever be a point in time where Newt needs to have it run 1,000 miles a day.
+Niffler; The nifflers are known to be attracted to shiny objects and are typically good for locating treasures. While nifflers are overall pretty average creatures, there are a few things that they can do that are magical by nature. One, is that the pocket on their stomach are similar to the undetectable extension charm much like Newt's case. The space is expansive while not outwardly seeming so. The other ability that nifflers seem to have is the ability to squeeze through any space to get through, as seen when the niffler got into a bank vault. I assume the pocket on its stomach will be limited in space and I'll be treating its ability to squeeze through spaces similarly to how average animals can squeeze through spaces.

Choice: Witch
Reason: Newt is naturally a practitioner of magic from his own canon as he's a wizard. It seemed fitting to have him to become a witch because of that. Since his passions had always been beasts and creatures, I think he'd do well to facilitate good bonds with monsters and to assist others through their changes.
