The kelpie gives a slow nod, understanding the other's view. It was similar enough to how he felt about the two. He smiles at the reveal of the other kelpie's name, "Rudolph. That's a rather nice choice for a name." He chimes with quickly before listening to what Newt had to say about the creature's situation.
Before Kielo can so much as offer the lake he lived on as a potential candidate for Rudolph's relocation, Newt had been tugged into the waters of the enclosure and out of his line of sight. His eyes widen before he's putting the journal on the ground next to him, not caring about abandoning his place marker and looking over the edge proper as if he could try to catch a glimpse of the other beneath the surface.
After a handful of seconds, he decides he should go on after the magizoologist despite knowing he should trust the other kelpie in his care to not harm him. Kelpies were a bit territorial no matter the breed. He knows this will likely reveal his nature to the other much sooner than he expected but he shouldn't risk not helping.
Kielo moves to stand before taking a step forward to drop into the water, just gracefully floating down. He normally never really entered the water in this form but wasn't about to alarm the other with the sudden appearance of a horse. Instead, he tries to pinpoint where the pair might be.
A large mass swims passed Kielo quickly that it's hard to even see what it was. Still, a mess of auburn hair seemed to be clinging to whatever it was and perhaps he can guess what it was. Nothing else should be in the enclosure but the kelpie. Instead, it makes for the surface of the water.
At the very least, Kielo doesn't have to worry. It seems like Newt was completely fine. The kelpie seemed rather fond of the magizoologist. Perhaps playing a little too rough for the recovering Brit.
Kielo can resurface though and find a soaked Newt clinging to the kelpie while it tries to nuzzle Newt's hair. "An absolute brat."
The Kelpie swims passed him faster than he was expecting and it sends him in a bit of a twirl so as not to lose the creature or the flash of Newt's hair. Kielo shakes his head when the kelpie moves towards the surface, blowing out a series of air bubbles with a pout. He should've just waited instead of jumping in.
Kielo swims back up, resurfacing next to the other Kelpie, a soft laugh leaving him as he spots Newt clinging to the creature. "You truly have your hands full with this one." He swims closer to the platform and hoists himself up, enough to sit on the edge like before. He doesn't appear soaked like Newt was, the only indication that he was ever in the water was the ends of his hair were dripping and that was it.
A quick dip like that did little to affect his form. Had he been in the water longer then he would likely be a bit more on the soaked side.
"C'mon Rudolph, give him back." He hesitantly reaches towards the Kelpie and gives him a few pats.
"He's fussy and he needs to release some pent up energy," Newt says a little breathlessly. He doesn't have the stamina to really keep up with Rudolph like he had before and he has to have the kelpie bring them close to the edge. He isn't even sure he can lift himself out of the water on his own.
Rudolph seems to stare at Kielo and the outstretched hand carefully. Eventually, Rudolph blows air down into Kielo's hand before he turns a bit so the other can help Newt out. It's hard to tell how Rudolph seems to think about Kielo, but the creature seems to at least trust the other. The other did jump into the water to help Newt out, so at least Kielo has shown that he cares.
Newt seems to be curiously looking at Kielo though. Whatever is on his mind though, he doesn't say though. How curious. The way the water interacts with them...
"I'm sure we can come up with something to remedy that." He says as he watches the pair, even with as much space as this enclosure offered, he's sure the kelpie just needed more enrichment or company.
Kielo feels like he's holding his breath as Rudolph takes his time to accept him before there's a sigh of relief and a smile at the press of the Kelpie's breath against his hand. Its progress and he hopes he can gain the creature's trust in time.
As the creature moved closer, he shifts to stand up and help Newt with as much ease as he did carrying him down the stairs earlier was. He didn't think anything of Newt staring at him, gently brushing wet strands of hair out of the other's face before he remembers how the Newt didn't like to be touched.
"Should I get you a towel or anything? He asks before he takes a step back away from the other.
"He wants me to play with him, but he knows I can't," Newt says with a bit of a sigh. Newt usually would be more than happy to spend time with Rudolph, but he physically wasn't in a state for it.
He lets the other help him up and he's distracted enough by his observations that he doesn't even quite realize what the other had done. He blinks once. Twice. Ah, the other was speaking to him. He flushes a bit. He had possibly stare at Kielo a little too long to be considered polite (or normal).
Newt huffs a bit as he sits there. "No, it's quite fine," he replies. "I can dry up in a moment." He needed to catch his breath before he made an attempt to get his wand. He had left it at his bed. "He'll complain if I leave right away." Newt gestures at Rudolph, who disappears back under the water.
I just realized this reply had escaped the thread so I'm reposting it skjfg
